How email linking works in Teamopipe
Email linking connects deals to Gmail conversations so you can return to the thread from the deal, and so Teamopipe can label emails by stage.
Email linking is the reason Teamopipe works inside Gmail instead of feeling like a separate CRM. When you create a deal from an email, Teamopipe connects that deal to the Gmail conversation so you can return to the thread from the deal later.
What gets linked
After creating a deal from an email: the deal appears in the first stage of the selected pipeline, the email thread gets a Teamopipe label in Gmail, the linked contact appears in the deal detail view, and you can jump back to the Gmail thread from the deal. Teamopipe stores the CRM relationship — the actual email conversation stays in Gmail.
Thread-level vs contact-level linking
Thread-level: only the specific Gmail thread you used is linked. Replies in that thread stay connected; other emails from the same person do not appear. Use this when the same person is involved in multiple separate deals.
Contact-level: all emails from that contact's address are connected to the deal — past and future. Use this only when one person equals one deal. The most common mistake is leaving the toggle on contact-level when you intended to link only one thread.
If unsure, choose thread-level
Thread-level is safer because it only links the specific conversation you selected. Too many emails in a deal = contact-level linking active. Missing emails = thread-level and the new conversation was never linked.
